It's not hard to make your pages Lynx-friendly (or friendly to people reading the web with images turned off, or to the visually-impaired who use screen-readers); simply modify your HTML slightly, like this:
<IMG SRC="image.gif" ALT="[explanatory text]">
And, viola! People using Lynx won't be subjected to the confusing sight of [LINK] [LINK] [LINK] !
To make non-link images vanish entirely (so [INLINE] doesn't appear), use ALT=" ". The ALT tag will show alternative text to anyone in text-only mode which won't be visible to people in graphics mode.
